Why are webcams still relevant again?
Share your view of the resort
Drive Traffic To Your Website
We’ve been running webcams in holiday resorts around Europe for years now … not the ones you balance on your desk but high-spec, heavy-duty devices that can weather an Alpine winter or a Mediterranean summer.
Holidaymakers love webcam views as they show real-time conditions and help build excitement for their upcoming trip.
The new webcams we’re using are neat, lightweight, and easy to install … ideal to show conditions right outside your property. Once it’s in place you can show the images on your own website, promote your views on our destination-guide websites, and share the image with your guests via email and social-media.
Taxe de Sejour Legion d’Honneur
February 9th, 2012
I would like to suggest a special award for the little ray of sunshine who toils alone and unaided on the top floor of the Chamonix mairie.
Your spirits may be reduced when you have to explain to your impoverished guests that, in addition to fuel surcharges, credit card fees, extortionate lift passes and the most expensive accomodation in France, there is also a special tax, payable daily in cash, just for them because they’re tourists.
You collect their 90 cents a day on behalf of the authorities and climb with your little bag of shrapnel up 7 flights of stairs to the very top of the maison de ville in Chamonix. When you arrive, puffing and panting, it all suddenly becomes worth while when you are greeted with such a warm, welcoming smile and a round of heartfelt thanks.
Come on guys- let’s all do our best to collect as much Taxe de Sejour as possible, then we can keep the people who accept the fruits of our efforts in a job. The “Legion d’Honneur” for them at least. Best Joan

December 7th, 2011Knobber Ski Instructors in Chamonix
December 1st, 2011
We all love skiing here. And most of the punters who turn up…. well, that’s why they’re here innit. How do you learn to ski though? Get yourself a ski instructor.
That’s where the trouble starts. Some ski instructors are just Knobbers.
More Space Arguements

“Hello is that you? over.”
“Course it’s fucking me.”
“How much fuel is there left?”
“I thought this was on batteries, over.”
“Are you fucking joking? Roll the grabber in, it’s using all the fuel up”
So, you’re nearly ready for your busy season?
November 14th, 2011
Owners of Chamonix based business know the feeling. It’s mid November and the most important 6 months of the year are about to start.
A successful winter depends on many things. The weather is important, but what really seems to count is how well the business is marketed.
You have to ask yourself. Has that several hundred euros you’d given to chamonix.net & chamonet.com been well spent? How many actual visitors to your site have you got from them? How many actual enquiries?
Sure, the sites do rank well in Google for certain chamonix based keywords, and because of that the sites do get a fair bit of traffic. But does that benefit your business? Do the banners and directory listings make you look good?
There’s a better way to generate those enquires. Cheaper too.
Space Argument : Rock Kick.

Asshole Driven development (ADD) – Any team where the biggest jerk makes all the big decisions is asshole driven development. All wisdom, logic or process goes out the window when Mr. Asshole is in the room, doing whatever idiotic, selfish thing he thinks is best. There may rules and processes, but Mr. A breaks them and people follow anyway.
I’ll raise you an invoice
November 9th, 2011
We had a fun conversation with one of the established Chamonix Directory websites recently. It’s still an argument in progress, so we’d better not say too much.
Suffice to say that this company appears to believe that the best way to deal with someone who is annoying them is to ‘Raise an invoice’ on their ass!
Seriously. We can’t work out if they are actually insane, or if we’ve just put the wind up ‘em a bit.
